ANGEL CROCKPOT CHICKEN

Shared by a Sonlight friend of mine:

Ingredients:

1 ½ lb chicken breast (boneless/skinless)
¼ cup butter
1 envelope Italian salad dressing mix
10 oz can Condensed Golden Mushroom Soup
½ cup dry white wine (note – my friend uses white grape juice and it is fine)
4 oz. Cream cheese with chive and onion
hot cooked angel hair pasta

INSTRUCTIONS:
Place chicken in bottom of electric crockpot. You don’t have to cut it up now. It will be so tender when it is done you can do that as you serve it.

In medium saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in the salad dressing mix.
Stir in soup, wine/juice, and cream cheese until combined and smooth. Pour over the chicken.

Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours. Serve chicken and sauce over hot cooked pasta. Sprinkle with chives if desired. Makes 6 servings.

The friend who shared this recipe with me said: "It smells so yummy while it is cooking! You can serve it over spaghetti, and I have in a pinch, but the angel hair pasta is much better with it - I don't know why."

Jess, your recipes are approachable and doable! I just discovered your recipe site, and I'll be trying out a lot of these.

By the way, back during Christmas I tried the muffins dipped in butter and then sugar and cinnamon- so good!

HI, I make this and I use chicken stock in place of the wine.
You have a very nice blog. I am still reading it as often as I can.

I just set up my first blogs and you are invited to visit me if you can find time. I really don't know what I am doing but I am a Christian, so it is family friendly and I hope interesting. I have a garden blog and one about growing older.

Have you tried subbing the wine with grape juice in other recipes? Just wondering. If it works well this would be super for us. We'd never use the wine for anything but food, and even then I generally dislike the taste.

I'm very excited about finding your recipe blog! Mmmmm!

I've actually never made this recipe (haven't yet anyway)... because I haven't had a crock pot here in our current country that we're living in. That said, I just got a roasting casserole dish for the oven, so I may just try to make this recipe now with that, in our oven.

I haven't tried replacing white wine with anything else... but you could try anything you'd like. In smaller doses, I'd use something like the other things that have been suggested-- chicken stock or juice.

Thanks for the reminder about this recipe, though... now that I've got this new dish to use, I need to try it out!
